Leave No Trace

Boating is popular and growing. Adopting the Leave No Trace principles reduces the environmental impact of paddling and camping along the Northwest Discovery Water Trail and keeps the corridor enjoyable for everyone who follows.

The seven principles

  1. Plan ahead and prepare.
  2. Travel and camp on durable surfaces.
  3. Dispose of waste properly.
  4. Leave what you find.
  5. Minimize campfire impacts.
  6. Respect wildlife.
  7. Be considerate of other visitors.

The full text of each principle is available from the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics.
